Clean ears

A healthy dog‘s ear requires almost no care.

Excessive cleaning of a healthy ear can disrupt the self-cleaning process and can lead to excessive ear soiling or even ear canal inflammation.
Ear odor, discharge, head shaking, head tilting to the side, red earlobe, pain, these are all signs of ear disease.The dog‘s ear canal is shaped differently than the human ear canal, it drops vertically and then forms a right angle. This shape causes ear wax to accumulate where it can‘t be cleaned. Some breeds are more prone to ear infections e.g. CockerSpaniel, Basset Hound.
Ear infections can have various causes. They can be caused by mites, other parasites, bacteria or yeast, such as Malassezia pachydermatis. In addition, however, inflammation can be caused by food allergies or foreign objects in the ear.
If you suspect any kind of ear infection in your dog, it is best to contact your Vet immediately. An acute infection that is left untreated for a long time can become chronic.
